In our quest to find really great Chinese on the Main Line, we went through a wide variety of Wayne and Devon establishments: Chinese Delight, Wing Wah, and China Wok, to name a few. They all were seriously lacking in at least one crucial category. China Garden is not. It's fried, loaded with the right sauces, and full of fun extras like fortune cookies, wontons, and egg rolls. Oh, and the prices are way, way better. Finally, a guilty pleasure that fits the bill!

Every once in a while I do like to indulge in greasy, takeout food when I'm home, and this place definitely gives you that in massive portions of decent artery-clogging goodness. I am not ashamed to admit that I've been coming here since I was in middle school for their $5.50 lunch specials (gotta love the moo goo gai pan and pepper steak - the meat is very tender and not sinewy), which include an entree, fried rice, and appetizer, and walked away with a huge plate of food. They actually fill a styrofoam container rather than just one of those measly little plastic tupperware wannabes. It will usually suffice for both lunch and dinner (the campus life has made me more financially conscious). The owners work there everyday and are a sweet couple. I'm always greeted with a smile and a "how's school/life?" Parking can be um, interesting, or I should say that backing out can prove to be quite a challenge but that's why I have a backup camera that beeps annoyingly as a warning to those unfortunate souls in the cars behind me.

Pleasantly surprised. This is the no-frills, greasy takeout joint that's sorely missing from the Main Line. I had the Orange Beef and found the beef tender. There was ample sauce, rice and broccoli. It was considerably better (and cheaper) than the same entree at Chinese Delight in Wayne.

For three years now I have been ordering Chinese from another local Chinese restaurant. Tonight was the first night I ordered from China Garden and I am certain I will never order from another Chinese restaurant again. My large order arrived within 15 minutes and everything was exactly as I ordered it. The soups and egg rolls were done to perfection and my chicken dishes were extra spicy as requested. From now on China Garden will be my go to Chinese restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful experience! I highly recommend China Garden to anyone new to the Main Line area seeking quality Asian food! T

The food is good here. Not great. It's convenient as I can call in my order and walk over - they have delivery but its such a short walk for me that I might as well. The prices are decent and they have some coupons in their menu that we take advantage of. I've had fried rice a few times and it's just lacking something - but we eat it. Had the chicken and cashews once and that was a bit blah as well. The moo shu pork was flavorful. Scallion pancakes are good. Basic egg rolls. Wonton soups broth was a bit greasy on top and the last time I had it the broth was dark - usually I've only had a pale yellow broth. The service is good and friendly.

The food is your standard Chinese food. It tastes good, and in my experience, is the best Chinese is the Main Line area. There is nothing to make it stand out, though, and the prices are a bit much for Chinese. The "do not eat here" sign they have hanging up is also rude. Guess who pays for those tables and chairs? The customers!

I got a dinner combo: chicken and broccoli. You can choose pork fried rice or white rice. Then you can choose a soda or soup. You also get an egg roll... All or $8. Gotta love Chinese places! The portions are huge. Definitely enough for 2 people The quality and taste were good. The rice was cooked well and the meat was tender. I like my Chinese spicy so i asked for them to make it spicy plus i asked for a "hot oil" to go. It's a small place... But they are nice people. I will be back =) the only thing i thought was weird is that they have a sign in the store that says, "please do not eat here you will enjoy your food more if you eat it at home"... uh ok? lol i thought it was hilarious.

I have been buying take out from this place 2-3 times a week for the past 4 years. It's right across the street from my work. But never again! I hurt my tooth biting into a dumpling today. The reason why is because there was a dirty, rusty cylinder-shaped piece of metal about 1cm long inside of my dumpling. When I went back to the "restaurant" to inform them, they accused me of making up the whole story just so I could get my money back. When they finally refunded me my money (after a good 20 minutes of arguing), they told me "well next time, don't order food if you can't afford to pay." Needless to say, I will NEVER eat here again! Additionally, I'm going to see a dentist tonight. What if I actually swallowed on the chunk of metal and choke on it?
